Melissa Deally:

Welcome back to another episode of health hacks as I continue sharing powerful quotes for you to live by. And today's quote is by Zig Ziglar, what you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals. And I like to say who you become, and that is a reminder that as we work towards our goals, it's always a journey, and there's going to be obstacles, and we're going to have to zig or zag along the way. And so first off, that's why it's important that we celebrate the progress, and not just the end goal, because sometimes that end goal actually shifts and we end up with a goal that was something that we didn't even have the ability to conceive of when we started. And if we wait to celebrate the end goal and don't get there, well that's pretty disappointing. And yet, we've got so much further, so we want to celebrate the progress, and we also want to recognize that as we work towards our goals along that journey, that there is growth. We are learning there will be times where we need resilience, and so we're building our resilience muscle, and we are in that process becoming a new version of ourselves, transforming into somebody who is smarter, stronger, more resilient, who has learned more along this path. And so it isn't about what you get when you achieve your goals, what that reward might be? You know, paying students money for getting A's at school isn't teaching them this. That's teaching them to chase the reward, as opposed to teaching them to be proud of the effort they put in the resilience that they had when they got an A after having had a B last semester, a semester, and they were able to apply themselves and focus and bounce back to getting that a and to be proud of the effort and that journey of who they're becoming, somebody who knows that They can do this because they desire it themselves, internally versus the external reward. And so today we're just the world is so focused on, you know, what do I get? What do I get? And you know, all these freebies that are offered, left, right and center, etc, etc. And what if we instead, start to focus on for ourselves, who am I becoming? Who do I want to be, and how do I become that person? And that's what this quote is all about, because we can choose that, and it's not about what we get, it's about the journey. And we don't learn anything. If it's easy, we have to go through the difficult times in order to overcome them, and it's that process that is teaching us, and that is how we step into our best version of ourselves. Sowhat's one goal that you're working on, and how is that journey shaping you? Are you remembering to celebrate the steps along the way? I'd love you to put a comment in and let us know.

About the Podcast

Don't Wait For Your Wake Up Call!
with Melissa Deally, Integrative Health Practitioner
As an Integrative Health Practitioner I have come to realize that we simply haven't been taught how to optimize our health, and that the average person has habits that are negatively impacting their health, due to this lack of knowledge, through no fault of their own. Public health and our school system simply don't teach us enough about nutrition, sleep, stress, gut health or how interconnected our bodies are! Modern life has us more sleep deprived, stressed out and the sickest ever, and I believe it is time to bring this education to you, so that you CAN be empowered in your health and you can then make the right choices for you and your family. The choices you make today impact your future 1 year, 5 years, 10 years + from now. It is never too early to start looking after your health, as Health is your TRUE wealth....without it what do you have?
