Welcome back to another episode of health hacks as I continue sharing with you information about your vital organs that you may not be aware of. And this week, I am talking about your heart, which of course is essential for many functions in the body. Some of which I'm going to share with you today, and some of which you may know however, you don't know in the detail that I'm sharing it, or you may not even be aware of some of these. So first off, I am sure that you know that your heart is pumping oxygenated blood from the lungs to the rest of your body. It is also pumping deoxygenated blood from the body to the lungs so that they can read oxygenate that blood and continue sending oxygenated blood around the body. And so alongside that your heart is responsible for maintaining your blood pressure regulation. So it is helping to regulate blood pressure through the force and rate of its contractions. And the way the heart pumps, as it helps move that blood through your body. And in that process, it is supplying not only oxygen, but other nutrients to the blood as to your organs and the whole body as well. So it is a delivery system of essential nutrients, which are delivered to tissues and organs throughout the body. It's also responsible for maintaining body temperature. So thermal regulation simply by adjusting blood flow to the skin and to your extremities. The heart helps to be regulating body temperature and maintaining homeostasis of that temperature. It also supports your immune function by transporting immune cells. The heart is pumping blood that carries white blood cells and other immune system components to sites of infection and inflammation in order to assist and start the healing process. It also assists in cellular metabolism. So we've talked about nutrient delivery. And this as the heart ensures cells receive the oxygen and nutrients they need. That helps with your metabolism as well as energy production. And of course, it enables physical activity for which you need energy and it supports the muscles by increasing the heart rate and blood flow during physical activity. The heart supports muscles, increased demand for oxygen and nutrients. So these are by no means all of the functions of the heart. However, just from these seven that I've highlighted here, you can understand the critical role the heart plays in not only keeping you alive, it's also so vital in just maintaining your overall health and wellness and supporting all of the body's various symptoms or systems I should say. So tune in as I continue talking this week more about the heart and how you can care for your heart as well and make it a priority because it is such an important aspect of your ability to thrive. You want to be you want to be making sure that you are doing all you can to be caring for your heart. So keep coming back as we continue talking about the heart this week.
