Welcome back to another episode of health hacks as I round out the week talking about kidney health, and today I want to share with you things that you can be doing in your regular everyday life to be able to support better health of your kidneys. So firstly is stay hydrated. Remember your kidneys helped to balance fluid levels in your body, and it can do that much better when you are hydrated. Eating a balanced diet and maintaining a healthy weight, monitoring your blood pressure and your blood sugar levels, avoiding smoking and limiting alcohol intake. These are all things that you already know. And you may know in general, they help your overall health however, you may not realize how these different aspects of taking care of your overall health are supporting your individual organs as well. Avoiding overuse of over the counter medications such as anti inflammatories, like ibuprofen, limiting toxins and chemicals getting into your body. Remember your kidneys or your one of your detoxification organs. And so the less toxins coming in, the less workload you're putting on your kidneys, reducing stress, which also helps lower blood pressure, and therefore supports kidney health as well. So just take one, one of those I've given you like 10 things there that you could do. Take one area of your life where you could improve, is it drinking more staying hydrated, drinking 50% of your body weight every day? Is it including more stress reducing activities in your day, taking time to do some yoga, meditate, breathe, is it sleeping better, which helps lower stress levels? Is it reducing your alcohol intake, pick one of those that you can do and do that every day for seven days. And know that you are supporting your kidney health, your overall health. And if you master that after seven days, add to it pick one more thing that you can do. And it's these little baby steps that you take that make a difference in your overall health. You don't have to go for giant change all at once. You're better off implementing little baby steps, mastering that and then introducing the next little baby step and getting yourself into a place of good health that way, and if you need help with any of that, feel free to reach out Melissa at your guided health journey.com

About the Podcast

Don't Wait For Your Wake Up Call!
with Melissa Deally, Integrative Health Practitioner
As an Integrative Health Practitioner I have come to realize that we simply haven't been taught how to optimize our health, and that the average person has habits that are negatively impacting their health, due to this lack of knowledge, through no fault of their own. Public health and our school system simply don't teach us enough about nutrition, sleep, stress, gut health or how interconnected our bodies are! Modern life has us more sleep deprived, stressed out and the sickest ever, and I believe it is time to bring this education to you, so that you CAN be empowered in your health and you can then make the right choices for you and your family. The choices you make today impact your future 1 year, 5 years, 10 years + from now. It is never too early to start looking after your health, as Health is your TRUE wealth....without it what do you have?
