HH573: Encore Presentation- Stress: Affects Fertility

Today, I want to share how it impacts our fertility.

About the Host:

Melissa is an Integrative Health Practitioner and a Board Designated Trainer of NLP, Time Line Therapy®, Hypnotherarpy, and NLP Results Coaching, helping people get to the root cause of their health issues and then get lasting results. Melissa neither diagnoses nor cures but helps bring your body back into balance by helping discover your “toxic load” and then removing the toxins. Melissa offers functional medicine lab testing that helps you “see inside” to know exactly what is going on, and then provides a personalized wellness protocol using natural herbs and supplements.  Melissa’s business is 100% virtual – the lab tests are mailed directly to your home and she specializes in holding your hand and guiding the way to healing so that you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

Melissa has launched Amplify Impact Academy, with business partner, Billie Aadmi and together they train other coaches, practitioners and counsellors in the 4 mind-body healing modalities mentioned above, giving them powerful tools to use with clients to get results with greater ease, speed and grace. These courses teach life skills and anyone can take them, if you wanto be a better leader, parent, partner, be empowered in your own life, these courses are for you!

Melissa’s passion project is her non-profit, Girls Matter (www.girlsmatter.ca), breaking the poverty cycle 1 girl, 1 family, 1 village at a time.  The mission is to keep girls in school and stop teenage marriages, because school isn’t free in over 50 countries around the world and when parents have to make the difficult choices of feeding their kids or paying for school, food wins. And when the girls hit their teen years, they will often be married off so that someone else becomes responsible to feed them. Keeping girls in school instead creates a generational ripple effect, because an educated girl is more than twice as likely to ensure her on children are educated. Educating girls also grows the GDP of countries, when they get into the workforce. This is how together, we can change the world. Guests on this podcast are invited to donate to this important cause. Learn more here in this short video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R3-xqzJLZW14om1PhFClcU_oRSZ8zgip/view?usp=share_link

Melissa Deally:

Welcome back to another episode of health hacks

Melissa Deally:

as I continue my theme of talking about stress and how it

Melissa Deally:

impacts our health and longevity, and today, I want to

Melissa Deally:

share how it impacts our fertility. Stress can interfere

Melissa Deally:

with our reproductive hormones, because when the body is in the

Melissa Deally:

stress state. It is producing cortisol and adrenaline in order

Melissa Deally:

to get us to safety, and we need energy to be able to fight or

Melissa Deally:

flee, and the body is setting us up to be able to do all of that.

Melissa Deally:

And in order to have that kind of energy, it has to shut down

Melissa Deally:

other systems in the body in order to give you what you need

Melissa Deally:

in the moment. And so it will shut down your immune system. It

Melissa Deally:

will shut down your digestive system. You can't be in, you

Melissa Deally:

can't be in your rest and digest system at the same time that

Melissa Deally:

you're in your fight or flight system. And it will also shut

Melissa Deally:

down procreation, because you're not going to stop and make a

Melissa Deally:

baby when you're trying to get to safety, and when we are in

Melissa Deally:

this fight or flight state, it is supposed to be short lived.

Melissa Deally:

And then when we get to safety, now we can get back into our

Melissa Deally:

rest and digest system. And that's where we really want to

Melissa Deally:

spend most of our lives, is in that calm, parasympathetic

Melissa Deally:

nervous system. And yet, in today's world, we're not we're

Melissa Deally:

spending most of our lives in our sympathetic nervous system.

Melissa Deally:

And so over the course of time, if the body's always having to

Melissa Deally:

produce cortisol and adrenaline, it has to be able to do this.

Melissa Deally:

It's doing it at the expense of other things. And so it is

Melissa Deally:

producing these at the expense of producing progesterone. And

Melissa Deally:

without progesterone, we can't actually hold on to a pregnancy

Melissa Deally:

because we need that progesterone in order to create

Melissa Deally:

the lining of the womb. And as a result, our fertility and our

Melissa Deally:

ability to hold a pregnancy is negatively impacted because of

Melissa Deally:

the stress that we are under. And so if that's you, look at

Melissa Deally:

the stress in your life and look at what you can be doing in

Melissa Deally:

order to balance that out. There are some stresses. There's that

Melissa Deally:

you can't do anything about, however, there are other

Melissa Deally:

stresses that you can control, and steps you can take to

Melissa Deally:

mitigate them. And one beautiful way to really calm the nervous

Melissa Deally:

system is to spend time in nature, taking walks in a local

Melissa Deally:

park, enjoying outdoor activities to rejuvenate your

Melissa Deally:

mind and body, planning to get out for hikes close to home on

Melissa Deally:

the weekends, just a little bit of time in nature where you can

Melissa Deally:

go for a walk, sit on a bench, close your eyes, gaze Up to the

Melissa Deally:

sun. Breathe deeply, listen to the birds, listen to the wind in

Melissa Deally:

the trees. Notice the different colors in nature. All of these

Melissa Deally:

things help to calm your nervous system. And you'll notice that

Melissa Deally:

the moment you step into a beautiful, natural surrounding,

Melissa Deally:

that very soon after that, you'll feel the stress leave

Melissa Deally:

your body. It's an incredibly powerful way to get out of that

Melissa Deally:

fight or flight state. And throughout this series on

Melissa Deally:

stress, which started back at episode number 445 and we're now

Melissa Deally:

10 episodes in each episode, gives you different tools that

Melissa Deally:

you can use to calm your nervous system. So check them out. See

Melissa Deally:

what works for you, because not everything will work for

Melissa Deally:

everyone. Find one that works for you, and if you need support

Melissa Deally:

with your fertility, please reach out. Melissa at your

Melissa Deally:

guided health journey.com. We can certainly run labs to

Melissa Deally:

determine the state of health of your body right now, where your

Melissa Deally:

hormone levels are at, where your cortisol levels are at,

Melissa Deally:

where your mineral levels are at, is your body healthy enough

Melissa Deally:

to sustain another life? And we want to make sure that you are

Melissa Deally:

as healthy as possible, so that you can and so that you're not

Melissa Deally:

becoming deficient throughout those months of pregnancy. So

Melissa Deally:

reach out, Melissa at your guided health journey.com. I

Melissa Deally:

would be happy to help you get into your healthiest state so

Melissa Deally:

that you can have a wonderful, happy, healthy little bundle of

Melissa Deally:

joy down the road.

About the Podcast

Don't Wait For Your Wake Up Call!
with Melissa Deally, Integrative Health Practitioner
As an Integrative Health Practitioner I have come to realize that we simply haven't been taught how to optimize our health, and that the average person has habits that are negatively impacting their health, due to this lack of knowledge, through no fault of their own. Public health and our school system simply don't teach us enough about nutrition, sleep, stress, gut health or how interconnected our bodies are! Modern life has us more sleep deprived, stressed out and the sickest ever, and I believe it is time to bring this education to you, so that you CAN be empowered in your health and you can then make the right choices for you and your family. The choices you make today impact your future 1 year, 5 years, 10 years + from now. It is never too early to start looking after your health, as Health is your TRUE wealth....without it what do you have?

I use this podcast to support my passion project - non-profit, Girls Matter (www.girlsmatter.ca), breaking the poverty cycle 1 girl, 1 family, 1 village at a time. Educating girls also grows the GDP of countries, when they get into the workforce. This is how together, we can change the world. Guests on this podcast are invited to donate to this important cause.
