Welcome back to another episode of health hacks. And this week I continue talking about our organs. The ones I'm talking about today are your kidneys last week episodes 418 419 and 420. I was talking about the liver. Now we're moving into talking about your kidneys. Your kidneys play a crucial role in maintaining the body's overall health and homeostasis. And I'm going to share five key ones with you today. Again, there are many more these are the ones that I chose to highlight. So first of all, your kidneys filter waste products and excess substances from the blood producing urine so they are a filtration system for your blood. And this process is helping to eliminate toxins from your blood out of your body and maintaining the body's chemical balance. And remember, the body always wants to be in balance a body in balance doesn't harbor disease, doesn't carry excess weight doesn't get sick. So balance is what we are striving for. Your kidneys are also detoxification organs working alongside the liver as they filter out waste and products and toxins from the body, including medications and metabolic byproducts from the blood. Your kidneys also support electrolyte balance, meaning that they maintain the proper balance of electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, which are crucial for nerve and muscle function, as well as supporting good heart health. And your kidneys supports the regulation of blood pressure. They adjust the volume of blood through the creation or retention of water and the constriction of blood vessels. The kidneys help regulate blood pressure in this way. And if they are not functioning at their best, then they can't do their job. And when people are struggling with blood pressure problems, there are several factors involved. However, looking at your kidney health and supporting kidney health can be one part of the solution and your kidneys support your pH level your acid base balance, again by excreting hydrogen ions and reabsorbing bicarbonate from the urine and disease can't grow in a pH balanced body. And so again, supporting our kidneys to help our body stay in balance is important and your kidneys play a critical role in maintaining this homeostasis and overall health of a body. Join me next time and I will share with you three things you may not know about your kidneys. You may have known all of this that I've shared today or maybe there's already some new learning for you. I simply hope to highlight the role of the kidneys and bring awareness to you as to what you can do to be further supporting your kidneys as we go through the health hacks this week.
