Imagine getting up every day full of energy is if you were in your 20s. Again, what would that be? Like?

Melissa Deally:

What would that be worth

Melissa Deally:

to you? What is your health worth to you? Think about it. Your health isn't everything. But without it, everything else is nothing. And yet too many of us are taking it for granted until something goes wrong. No one wakes up hoping to be diagnosed with a disease or chronic illness. And yet, we've never been taught how to be proactive in our health through our school system, or public health. As a registered health coach and integrative health practitioner, I believe it is time this information is made available to everyone. Combining new knowledge around your health and the ability to do my functional medicine lab tests in the comfort of your own home will allow you to optimize your health for today and all your tomorrow's don't wait for your wake up call.

Melissa Deally:

Welcome back to another episode of The don't wait for your wake up call podcast. My name is Melissa Daly, the host of your show. And this week, I am continuing my conversation around peace given that it's the month of December of 2022. But first I would love to share a testimonial with you. This one was written in and sent to me by Rebecca white of Sylvania, Ohio. And Rebecca says Melissa's blogs and podcast episodes always seem to come out right at the most perfect time. I had a very stressful situation I was dealing with and felt like I was losing my mind, I was hyperventilating and just stuck in a negative mindset. I kept thinking this is never going to end. And just a bad thought after bad thought kept going around in my head. I took a few minutes and read her blog post the power of your unconscious mind, I just have to say that once again, Melissa was right on point and her message was on point, right when I needed a kick in the behind ha ha ha I calmed myself down. And things went much smoother, as I told my subconscious brain to take a breather and just relax. Thank you, Melissa for always being positive, and helping others learn to stay in the right frame of mind. So we can accomplish anything we set our minds to. If you are having a hard time getting your subconscious mind to slow down and stop making things worse, and you want to take your life to the next level, I highly recommend reaching out to Melissa, thank you so much for sending that in Rebecca. And I'm so happy to hear that from you, because that's why I offer the education that I do through the podcast through my health hacks through my blogs. So I'm glad they're benefiting you. And I hope they're benefiting all the listeners that are here for today's show. So back to the show today. The topic today is finding peace within yourself. And what I did was I actually went and looked up the definition of peace. And I found that there are a couple of different definitions. One is that is it is the freedom from disturbance or tranquility. And another is that it is the state or period in which there is no war, or a war has ended. And so I want to discuss both of these with you here today. As to how they relate to your inner being. Peace is at the highest level of our energy states. It's above love and joy. While at the bottom of our energy states, we have shame and guilt, apathy and grief and fear. They weigh us down with heavy energy, whereas joy and love and peace make us feel light, it is that much lighter energy at the top of that, that range. And it takes conscious choice and inner work for us to be able to access our peaceful state. And so much of the messaging that we get through social media, and all media outlets is focused on driving the fear within us as they know that that is how they get our brain to perk up and pay attention because it is the job of our brain to keep us safe. So it is always on the lookout for danger, aka fear. However, as we do more inner work and focus on our own growth and development, we realize that we can choose how we want to show up in the world. We can choose to remain the victim stuck in our story, repeating it over and over again to anyone who will listen or we can choose to let that go and move beyond that and get out of that stuck state. And we do that by choosing forgiveness. And forgiveness doesn't mean that we condone whatever happened. Forgiveness is allowing ourselves to move forward in our healing. We can choose to be happy, or we can choose to focus on the negativity in our life. We can choose to practice gratitude which lifts us up. Or we can choose to focus on what we don't have and feel sorry for ourselves. You can choose to believe that everything happens for us. So that we can ask what is it that I need to learn from this experience and move forward in your personal power? Or you can choose to believe that everything happens to us and wonder, Who am I to blame to this, and put yourself back in victim mode, where we lay our focus expands. And so if you want more good in your life, focus on the good in your life, you probably all have someone in your life that is always negative. Nothing ever goes their way. And they spend time complaining about it. Guess what they're doing? They're focusing on the negative, so they get more negatives. I've had friends like that. And guess what, I don't spend much time if any with them anymore, because their negativity would drain me. And I didn't want to feel drained. After spending my limited time with my friends, I wanted to feel uplifted. So who you spend your time with is also a choice. Choose the ones who uplift you, versus those who drain your energy. So back to our topic of today's podcast, peace, peace is a choice to how do you achieve peace? Well, one of the easiest ways is to stop the war inside of you. Remember that definition that peace is where there is the absence of war, right? And you may think, what war but how often do you feel like a part of you wants to do this, but another part of you doesn't, for instance, a part of you that wants to go out and change the world. And a part of you that wants to stay small, is you're not really sure you can change the world, or a part of you that wants to be really successful in your career or business. And a part of you that wants to stay home and be mom to your young kids, or a part of you that wants to work with holistic practitioners to guide your body into healing. And a part of you that is concerned that maybe that's all woowoo. And you should just go to the doctor and use the medications they want you to take for the rest of your life. We all have many parts of us within our being. And these parts are often at war with each other, making you feel like you were stuck in a push pull mode and never actually moving forward. And you aren't because how can you when you are being pushed and pulled in opposite directions. So not only that, when you're in this state, you only have half the resources available to you. Whereas if your two parts could recognize that they have the same highest intention for you, such as safety, or wealth, or freedom, etc. And come together, you would be whole the warring would end and you would now have access to all the resources that are available to you. How much better would you feel when your parts aren't at war? And when you have all the resources to go out there and do exactly what it is that you want to do? You'd feel pretty darn invincible right? Can you feel at peace with that, with what you were trying to accomplish? This is powerful work. And we can align your parts quickly with NLP techniques that I offer so that you can truly soar. Does this resonate with you? We all have parts. And my question is which of your parts are getting in the way disrupting your peace and your ability to reach your goals? Let's bring them together for you. Melissa Deally:

Another source of peace is a peaceful environment. What kind of home have you created? Have you created space for peace? A room where the moment you walk into it. You feel a sense of calm come over your body. Or perhaps it's a practice of peace through yoga, or meditation, that you stop and practice in your day giving yourself mental peace in your day. We all need this in our fast paced worlds. Perhaps it's finding a place in nature that you go to because nature is so calming on our nervous system. Do you feel peace when you step into nature, just think about it. And I'm very fortunate I am surrounded by nature. And yet I still notice when I take the time to step into it, instead of just being surrounded by it, the difference that it has me feel. And I've shared this story before. But one time when I was really aware of it was actually after I'd spent an entire day in Vancouver, you know, dealing with traffic, going to different stores, getting errands done dealing with crowds. And on my way home, I stopped at a local campground to celebrate my niece's birthday, because her family was camping there. And I pulled into their campsite, I got out of the car, I walked over to the Porta Potti washroom. And as I walked back from that little porta Potti, to their campsite, which was all of 100 meters, I realized, wow, I already feel at peace. And I haven't even been here two minutes. That's how powerful nature is at helping us drop into peace. And so go for a walk, step into the woods be surrounded by trees whenever you can. Because it will really help you create that peaceful environment. And we all need this. In our fast paced world today. 100 years ago, we didn't have all the distractions and interruptions we have today. No TVs, no phones, computers, tablets, constantly pinging at US demanding our attention, it becomes overwhelming for our brains. And because our phones go with us everywhere, we really aren't giving our brains a break. In other words, they aren't getting any peace. Even when we sleep, our brain is still working. So it's important to give our brains some peaceful time in our day. And for me, that means doing some yoga, focusing on my breath on my movement on how my body feels. So I can release all those other thoughts about my day that would otherwise barge in. I also love to meditate, usually just for 10 minutes at a time, at the beginning or end of my day. Right as I'm waking up, or as I'm falling asleep, as these are the best times to meditate. It's so much easier for your brain to get into the brain with a brainwave level that you want for meditation. And so it allows me to gently drift into sleep, or gently wake into my day, giving myself a peaceful transition in this process. Where my brain doesn't have a steady stream of distractions, it simply gets to slowly wake up or slowly wind down and feel at peace during the meditation. And I know many people worry about whether they are meditating properly or doing it right. And if we have those thoughts running around in our mind, then that's creating stress. And so I want to assure you that you are doing it right. And you can't be at peace if you are constantly wondering if you are. So my suggestion is to use a guided meditation, listen to what you were being told in the meditation and try to follow it as best you can. If your mind wanders off, and you get distracted, don't beat yourself up, because that isn't peaceful. Instead, just recognize that it happened. And know that it's totally normal. And gently bring your thoughts back to the guided meditation and keep going. It can actually be helpful. If you notice your mind wandered away to just label it. Thinking, as in, I was thinking, right? That's what your brain is supposed to do. It's supposed to think so it's doing its job, and there's no reason to beat yourself up for it. So just label it thinking. Now you're aware of it, and then come back to the guided meditation and listen again, and your brains gonna wander off again. And label it again thinking and then just gently bring it on back. Some days you'll be better at concentrating on a meditation than others. The more you do it, the easier it will become. And you'll notice that your brain thanks you for those moments of peace in each and every day. So the lesson from today's podcast is that if you want more peace in your life, start by creating peace within yourself in the ways I've mentioned in this episode. And if you'd like more support with that, please do reach out and connect with me. Next week, my guest is somebody who is helping to bring peace into our school systems with bully proof classrooms. He's an incredible fellow who has his own story to share in finding his own peace within himself. And now that he's figured out how to do that for himself, he's sharing that with others in a very profound way that will make a huge difference to our youth and teens in the world today, and I hope his work can spread far and wide quickly, which is why I want to have him on the show and get his message out there. So thank you for listening. Have a wonderful week ahead. I hope you incorporate some of these tips to start finding peace within yourself during a busy holiday season. And thank you as always, for listening and sharing my show.

About the Podcast

Don't Wait For Your Wake Up Call!
with Melissa Deally, Integrative Health Practitioner
As an Integrative Health Practitioner I have come to realize that we simply haven't been taught how to optimize our health, and that the average person has habits that are negatively impacting their health, due to this lack of knowledge, through no fault of their own. Public health and our school system simply don't teach us enough about nutrition, sleep, stress, gut health or how interconnected our bodies are! Modern life has us more sleep deprived, stressed out and the sickest ever, and I believe it is time to bring this education to you, so that you CAN be empowered in your health and you can then make the right choices for you and your family. The choices you make today impact your future 1 year, 5 years, 10 years + from now. It is never too early to start looking after your health, as Health is your TRUE wealth....without it what do you have?
